Censis: “32% of Italian water is lost along the distribution network "

27112014

Insulating joints are a very important component to reduce the substantial amount of water lost along the water distribution network. Indeed insulating joint avoids that corrosion provokes ruptures of pipes and mainlines resulting in water leaks along the network. The amount of water wasted in Italy is great. According to an Italian study developed by Censis, the volume of water lost because of corrosion amounted to 31.9% in 2014 (source: Censis, "Fourth number of Diary of transition"), a significant value that, when compared with other European countries, becomes alarming: in Germany the water lost amounts to 6.5%, in England and Wales at 15.5%, in France, where it’s a big issue too, to 20.9%.

The aging Italian water infrastructure network requires major investments for maintenance and replacement of pipes and mainlines in order to align them with European standards and to eliminate and reduce the leakages. The insulating joint is only a small and inexpensive component of the water infrastructure, but has a significant impact on network efficiency and on reduction of maintenance costs. So, why not to start from here?
